Things to do in December in Boise
Contrary to popular belief, the Treasure Valley here in Idaho does not get mountains of snow every Winter! Fortunately (in our opinion!) you can get those mountains of white by going a little ways North. Nothing wrong with just staying warm here in the Valley as well! Stay tuned for a list of activities we LOVE in December here in Idaho!
Boise's ski hill first got it's name because the trickster selling the property put minuscule gold flakes all over the ground to trick potential buyers that gold was just waiting underneath their feet. (Something we promise not to do at CORE!) After seeing these little glimmers, the buyer purchased right away and, of course, found no gold. It was a bogus basin! However, it has since turned into Boise's best place to learn how to ski and snowboard, snowshoe, and tube down a mountain!
We can't wait for the first snowfall! Check them out here http://bogusbasin.org/. You can bring or buy your lunch there, and they have plenty of rental equipment available as well.
One quick way to warm right up is to take a quick dip into a naturally heated pool! There are many in the area, from The Springs (http://www.thespringsid.com/), a luxury dip that serves food and drinks (beer and wine too!) close to Idaho City, to Goldfork which is a bit of a bumpy ride off of the main road to McCall Idaho (but totally worth it!). Goldfork has multiple pools of various temperatures keeping you comfortable no matter what time of year you go, check them out here http://goldforkhotsprings.com/. Miracle Hot Springs is near Buhl, Idaho South of Boise and it boasts private pool rooms, "igloos" with geothermal heated floors you can camp in, and massages. Check them out here http://miraclehotspring.com/
Of course, this is only a small sampling of the hot springs available here in Idaho. If you are feeling adventurous, you can always hike in to some of the more natural spots using the coordinates on this site http://www.idahohotsprings.com/
The Boise Farmer's Market will be moving inside for the Winter! Check out all of the local produce, breads, oils, wines, sauces, herbs, decor, art, etc. at 8th and Fulton from 9am-2pm every Saturday. Pick up some heart felt Idaho presents or something nice for yourself or your home. Check them out here http://www.theboisefarmersmarket.com/ and don't forget the mini donuts!
Warm your body and soul with a spectacular display of beauty, power, and poise with either a showing of The Nutcracker performed by Ballet Idaho or Cirque de Soleil's Holidaze at the Morrison Center on the Boise State University Campus. (Take a peek at the blue turf as you're going by!) More information can be found here http://balletidaho.org/performances/the-nutcracker/ and here http://www.morrisoncenter.com/events/detail/cirque-dreams-holidaze. You can spend intermission making plans to see it again next year!
Wishing you a happy holiday season from us here at CORE Group Realty! Let us know what you got up to this December!
