Meet Vera!

VERA is a 2-year-old, 51-pound spayed female Pharoah Hound mix. Vera is our current long-time shelter resident and she has quickly become a staff favorite. She is a confident, affectionate dog that is happiest around her people. Vera enjoys playing fetch, tug-of-war, snuggling on the couch, and going for car rides. She is incredibly athletic and energetic and will need an equally active home. Vera is intelligent and food-motivated, which makes an excellent combination for training! She already knows how to "sit" and "come" and is capable of learning much more.  Vera gets along very well with other dogs but has a rougher play style. A dog introduction is required to make sure all parties are compatible with one another. Due to her rougher play style, Vera will not do well in a home with cats, smaller dogs, or young children. However, she would make an excellent companion in an active family with older kids and/or a bigger, playful dog. Vera would not do well as an outdoor-only dog as she will likely become depressed, destructive, and bored. She should be welcomed whole-heartedly into the family and enjoy the benefits of living close with her people. You won't regret having her by your side! Vera has earned her title of being a staff favorite thanks to her playful, loving personality. She is ready to find her forever home today!

Vera (#37287622) can be found in kennel 422 at the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St. The shelter is open every day from 10am to 6pm.
