Here are four tips to make sure you hire the right general contractor if you’re thinking of getting some work done on your home.
If you need some work done on your home and you’re in search of a general contractor, here are four tips to remember to avoid hiring the wrong one.
First, when you meet with a contractor, they shouldn’t be pushing higher-priced items on you or items that you don’t want. A pushy contractor might be someone you don’t want to work with.
Second, remember your R&Rs. I’m not talking about rest and relaxation—I mean reviews and references. Don’t be afraid to ask a contractor for references from their past few clients so you can reach out to them and find out what their experience was like. You can also look for a contractor’s reviews online.
Also, watch out for any contractor who tells you they only take cash. If they can only accept cash payments, that might mean something’s wrong.

Lastly, make sure they have all their credentials and are licensed, insured, and bonded.
