Want your home to do well in an inspection report? Follow these steps.
One of the most critical points in any real estate deal is the home inspection. So, as a seller, what can you do to make sure your home is up-to-par?
First, make sure that all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors have fresh batteries and are in working order. While you’re at it, go ahead and replace any burnt-out lightbulbs, and also look for any loose or exposed wiring around your electrical panels.
“ Safety issues aside, you may also find it helpful to resolve some basic cosmetic issues, as well.“
Also, to ensure that the inspector can navigate through your property without any problems, the entrances to attics and crawl spaces should never be blocked off. Another way to make it easier for the inspector to work is to crate your pets or take them with you when you leave before the inspection.
Safety issues aside, you may also find it helpful to resolve some basic cosmetic issues, as well. Peeling paint can make a home appear worse for wear, so taking care of any problem areas you notice is always a good idea.
