Meet Pistol Pete!
PISTOL PETE is a 5-year-old, 11.5-pound neutered male Chihuahua mix. This zesty little fellow is full of fun! Pistol Pete is a friendly, confident and playful guy who loves to be close to his human friends. He gets along with almost everyone he meets and enjoys pets and attention. He’ll wag his tail, kiss your nose, and flop onto his back to ask for belly rubs – what a love bug! He doesn't mind being picked up and will oftentimes crawl into your lap if you let him.
Pistol Pete can be a little nervous around other dogs at first and will bark at them, especially larger unknown dogs. Because of his nervousness and tendency to guard his food from other dogs, a dog introduction is required.
While Pistol Pete is very cute and cuddly, he is still pretty active and will need a family that can take him out for regular walks and playtime. However, he recently underwent an FHO surgery to repair an old fracture on one of his hind legs so exercise should be limited. He is recovering beautifully but until he’s fully healed, Pistol Pete should be in a kennel when left alone, prevented from jumping on or off things, and have supervised leashed walks. Pistol Pete walks well on a leash so this should be fun for him! He does not appear to know any other commands at this time but he is eager to please.
If you would like to meet Pistol Pete (#40072174) you can find him in Kennel 402 at the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St. The shelter is open every day from 10am to 6pm. For more information about Pistol Pete or other adoptable animals, go to idahohumanesociety.org.
